Process

Slow work, at one bench.

Nothing here is cast or machined. Each piece passes through the same six steps by hand.

  1. 01

    Sourcing

Flea markets, estate sales and donated family cutlery across the Nordics.

  2. 02

    Assessing

Metal, thickness and pattern are checked. Hollow handles and thin plate are set aside.

  3. 03

    Cutting

The handle or bowl is separated with a jeweller's saw, following the pattern rather than cutting through it.

  4. 04

    Annealing

Heated until the silver softens, so it can bend without cracking a century-old surface.

  5. 05

    Forming

Shaped on a mandrel with a rawhide mallet, a little at a time, checked against the body.

  6. 06

    Finishing

Edges filed round, surfaces sanded through grits and polished; hallmarks left legible.
